The Role:
The Asset Operations functions form the cornerstone of service delivery to customers, protecting the environment and meeting regulatory standards as well as managing most operational expenditure. The Operations Support function has responsibility for providing and managing effective business infrastructure and processes at a national level to support operational activities at site level.
The Workflow Management function within UÉ is accountable for the efficient bundling and progression of work orders nationally for Irish Water, Local Authorities, and external service providers. The team provide work and data management capability supporting the execution of field activities across Asset Operations, Asset Delivery, CDS and other programmes. Responsibilities include managing customer related escalations, outage / incident management support, road opening licence management, work scheduling activities, inventory management and systems training for UÉ field - based teams.
The Inventory Management team supports the business with effective materials management ensuring the right inventory is available at the right time, in the right quantities, and at the right cost.
The Store Operative reports to the Store Supervisor and supports all aspects of Inventory management. This includes but is not limited to ensuring inventory is received, inspected, stored, picked, and delivered adhering strictly to good safety practices with a primary focus on Health and Safety.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Adherence and compliance to policies, procedures, and internal controls as per the Inventory team processes
Ensure compliance with work safety procedures and fully participate in any safety programme that may be implemented. Undertake duties in a safe manner and use such personal protective safety equipment or clothing daily as is suitable for the tasks
Undertake all assigned health and safety training, including Safe Pass and, where relevant, Certified Construction Skills
Perform duties under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, including:
Identify hazards and conduct site risk assessments in advance of work activities
Apply safe work procedures and standard operating procedures
Undertake all assigned health and safety training
Use appropriate safety equipment and tools, including Personal Protective Equipment
Where necessary, seek guidance from the Store Supervisor on the carrying out of site risk assessments
Record all site matters, including accidents, incidents and near misses
Complete any corrective actions where identified through inspections, HAZCONs or other means
Work in a safe manner and stop any unsafe activity
Review loads against Purchase Order requirements
Record daily deliveries and shipments to reconcile inventory
Pick and assemble work orders accurately and efficiently
Ensure stock is located accurately, identifiable, and readily accessible
Participate in UÉ’s out of hours emergency call out rota as the need arises
Assist with stock taking as and when required
Collaborate closely with internal customers to meet business requirements
Operate relevant machinery and work independently
Performing ad hoc duties as and when required
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Secondary level education or equivalent work experience
Experience of working in an operations stores / warehouse environment
Experience of working in a plumbing or building merchants stores desirable
We keep each other safe - knowledge and understanding of working within a strong health & safety culture
IT literacy and skills for data entry, knowledge of inventory management systems, MS Office and ERP system beneficial
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in the operation of forklifts and other warehouse machinery is preferred, however full training will be provided
Strong problem-solving skills and drive to resolve issues promptly using initiative
Manual handling experience is essential however full training will be provided
Proven effective time management skills with the ability to prioritise and remain focused
We work better together - proven ability to create and develop good working relationships
Flexible regarding working in a changing environment and the ability to adjust to new work structures, processes, and requirements, as necessary
Full, clean, class B Irish driving licence. A clean driving licence is defined as meaning that the applicant has not been convicted of an offence under the Road Traffic Acts (other than an offence for which the penalty is the imposition of penalty points).

Please note the Market reference point (midpoint) of the range is generally the upper end of the offer where someone is deemed to be fully competent to take on the duties of the role, and leaves room for the employee to progress through the pay range as their experience develops further.
