Civil Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our team at {company} in Sligo. The successful candidate will report directly to the Estates Manager.
Job Summary:
This role is responsible for managing the planning and execution of an effective roads network and construction of engineering structures within the Business Area Unit (BAU) to access the forest estate. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Civil Engineering, excellent leadership skills, and experience in managing contractors and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage Contractors to ensure they deliver operational targets, meet quality standards, and provide excellent value for money.
* Develop Contractors to ensure they can deliver their best performance and step up to provide a more rounded service.
* Promote a commercial culture in Engineering operations where decisions are made with full consideration of maximising revenue and reducing cost.
* Promote an attitude of simplification to reduce complexity.
* Actively promote and prioritise a safe working environment for our people, contractors, and customers in the forest estate.
* Support the implementation of the Engineering Strategies through input into the operational group.
* Be accountable for developing own contribution to the business which includes driving personal development initiatives.
* Act as a visible role model for the Group's values.
Requirements:
* Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering equivalent to FETAC Level 7 or related discipline with a minimum of two years' experience working in an operations role.
* Commercial and Financial Acumen: Can focus on financial and commercial implications of their own activities through minimising costs and maximising revenues.
* People Management: A credible individual with previous experience in managing contractors and/or staff.
* Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge and experience to promote a safe-working environment and ensure compliance with environmental, regulatory, and silvicultural standards.
The salary for this position is estimated to be around €60,000 - €80,000 per year, depending on experience.
