Your new role as Structural Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to lead a team in delivering projects for our clients. The successful candidate will also mentor junior engineering staff and have the opportunity to work on various construction technologies.
Responsibilities include:
* Developing relations with project design teams and clients
* Adhering to company management systems
* Undertaking concept designs and planning for buildings of repeat clients
* Delivering projects within timeframes and budgetary requirements
* Managing resources allocated for project delivery
* Producing structural engineering calculations for High-Risk Structures and reviewing calculations for typical structures
* Checking designs and drawings, providing feedback and coaching where necessary
* Assisting Principal Engineers in developing timescales for new projects
* Reviewing project variations and ensuring variation costs are agreed
* Attending site visits for inspections and issuing inspection reports
* Reviewing inspection reports from the structural team
* Ensuring BCAR related projects meet inspection notification frameworks and preparing final documentation
* Maintaining knowledge of relevant standards and typical details
* Communicating changes to clients and their systems to Principal Engineers
* Providing technical assistance and support to others within the team
* Working towards becoming an MMC technical expert and staying up-to-date with industry developments
* Developing knowledge of applicable design standards such as Eurocodes
* Providing technical support to the engineering team
* Maintaining First Principles engineering analysis and researching required technical information
* Assisting and mentoring Structural Engineers
* Working with PE to manage Structural engineering teams
* Assisting on R&D works as required with Clients or within the company
* Becoming proficient in using in-house design software, externally sourced software, and QA processes
* Assisting in the development of design process
* Other tasks commensurate with this post
* Enabling harmonious relationships within the team
Requirements for success
7+ years post-grad professional experience in Structural Engineering
5+ years Structural Design experience with Steel Structures
Extensive knowledge of Eurocodes and British Standards
Experience with at least one Structural Design Software and capable of learning others smoothly
Extensive knowledge of Steel Connections
Experience with Steel Manufacturing requirements / drawings / procedures
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Proficiency in AutoCAD
Excellent organisation, planning, and time management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication & interpersonal skills with Fluent English
