I am delighted to partner with a new client of ours here at Morgan McKinley as they seek to hire a Warehouse & Logistics Director to join their team.
The Warehouse & Logistics Director will need to be commercially driven and be able to lead and manage their 18,000 square foot warehouse. This role is a unique opportunity to oversee operations while driving profitability by positioning the warehouse as a profit centre within the business. The ideal candidate will bring proven experience in warehouse management, logistics, team leadership, and a strong focus on commercial outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Warehouse Operations Management
o Oversee the day-to-day operations of the 18,000 square foot warehouse, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and productivity.
o Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to optimize performance and reduce costs.
o Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
2. Commercial Strategy and Profitability
o Establish and execute a commercial strategy to transform the warehouse into a profit centre.
o Monitor and analyse key financial metrics, including cost control, revenue generation, and profitability targets.
o Identify and develop opportunities for new revenue streams, such as value-added services or partnerships.
3. Logistics and Supply Chain Management
o Manage all logistics, including inbound and outbound shipments, inventory management, and order fulfilment.
o Develop relationships with suppliers, carriers, and other stakeholders to ensure cost-effective and timely operations.
o Utilise data to forecast inventory needs and optimize storage capacity.
4. Team Leadership and Development
o Lead, manage, and mentor a team of warehouse staff to maintain high performance and morale.
o Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management of warehouse employees.
o Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
5. Technology and Systems
o Oversee the implementation and use of warehouse management systems (WMS) to streamline operations.
o Leverage data and analytics to inform decisions and drive efficiencies.
Key Requirements:
1. Experience and Skills
o Minimum of 5 years experience managing a warehouse of similar size (25,000 sq ft) or larger.
o Proven track record of managing a warehouse as a profit centre or with a focus on commercial outcomes.
o Strong knowledge of logistics, supply chain management, and inventory control.
o Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced environment.
o Proficiency in warehouse management systems and data-driven decision-making.
o Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
2. Education and Qualifications
o Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (preferred but not required).
o Relevant certifications, such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), are advantageous.
