Job Description
AECOM is looking for an Architectural Technologist with significant experience in the Aviation Sector. The position is mainly located in our Dublin office, with a requirement to work onsite at Dublin Airport for at least three days each week. The candidate should be proficient in technical design and design management, digital technologies, and design workflows, with the expectation to oversee design activities and the production of design documentation.
Project/Design Responsibilities
Programme Requirements, Standards & Performance
1. Assess project design requirements across the programme to ensure they are feasible and in line with the Contracting Entity's objectives.
2. Work concurrently on multiple projects within the programme through all RIBA stages from concept and detailed design through to completion, managing their interfaces, quality and competing interests.
3. Ensure Contractor(s) compliance with the approved designs during the construction phases.
Technical Guidance
1. Ensure that detailed designs and contract documents are completed in accordance with timelines, quality, and cost objectives as set out by the Contracting Entity and in compliance with best in class governance and controls procedures.
2. Prepare design drawings and contract documents in accordance with the Irish Building Regulations and relevant and appropriate Irish / international standards.
3. Prepare design drawings and specifications that respond appropriately to the specific elements of the user brief such that all client requirements and expectations are adequately reflected in the design and execution.
4. Adopt and apply the implementation of appropriate design and standard procedures for projects, including relevant quality standard protocols for design production.
5. Promote a positive and safety culture in design, ensuring that best practices are implemented in relation to H&S and environmental legislation.
Working within a multi-disciplinary team & managing stakeholders
1. Manage and oversee the design performance of the external third-party consultants, supporting them to ensure that the best value design outcome is achieved.
2. Coordinate with the design team lead in relation to reviews and checks of related design deliverables.
3. Lead an appointed design team in the preparation and delivery of a design, ensuring that the design is prepared efficiently and delivered in line with the agreed programme.
Your Experience
1. Prior experience in design and architecture, with experience in significant and complex infrastructure projects.
2. Detailed knowledge of the current Irish Building Regulations (Including Part L, Fire, DAC and BCAR).
3. Experience providing detailed guidance and advice on technically challenging designs.
Qualifications
Specific Skills Required:
1. Strong communication and inter-personal skills within a multi-disciplinary team.
2. Able to prepare feasibility reports and presentations.
3. Strong design and presentation skills.
4. Experienced with Auto CAD & Revit, NBS Create Specification Writer, Microsoft office suites, inclusive of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, Sketch-up or similar 3D drawing package.

Third level qualification in Architectural Technology awarded by a recognised third level institution.
