Assistant Hatchery Manager (Temporary Role)
This position supports the hatchery management team in all aspects of hatchery management, including egg handling, incubation, chick and egg despatch.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the overall running of the factory unit.
* Take an active role in people management, equipment maintenance, and customer liaison.
* Provide on-call cover at night and weekends on a rota basis.
Key Tasks
Produce Day Olds:
* Organise supplies of eggs to suit production.
* Record 'clears' and hatchability of eggs and farm supplying eggs.
* Maintain and report on welfare requirements.
* Organise sexers to process hatched chicks.
* Transport day olds to farms and customers.
Boxing of Eggs:
* Organise supplies of eggs to suit production.
* Pack eggs when required.
* Arrange transport for egg export when necessary.
* Complete paperwork and certificates required for egg export.
Transfer of Eggs:
* Supervise the transfer of eggs from setters to hatchers.
* Organise vaccination requirements for customers.
* Maintain records promptly.
Requirements
* Third-level qualification.
* Hatchery experience.
* Keen interest in agriculture.
