Location of the post
There is currently one permanent whole-time vacancy available in Adult Mental Health Services in La Nua Day Hospital Ballybane Galway.

Details of Service
This role will have responsibility for the line management and supervision of Social Work Services across 6 general adult MH teams, 6 specialist teams including Sli Nua Homeless team, Perinatal team, Crisis team, POLL team, Rehab and Recovery team and Acute inpatient services. The PSW will line manage 14 staff in total including Family Peer staff.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The Social Worker, Principal will:
Professional / Clinical
1. Ensure the delivery of social work services is in accordance with CORU’s Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics.
2. Incorporate Social Work values and ethical principles in planning, developing, implementing and reviewing interventions.
3. Ensure the implementation of models of best practice / evidence based practice.
4. Provide clinical and professional leadership in the delivery and day-to-day provision of a high quality social work service.
5. Contribute to the overall development of the mental health social work service to meet current and emerging trends and unmet needs of Mental Health Service users.
6. Work in accordance with the principles and values of adult safeguarding.
7. Ensure the delivery of a Family Peer Support Service within local Adult Mental Health Services.
8. Provide line management, supervision and support to Peer Support Workers within the Mental Health Social Work Dept.
9. Contribute, as a member of local and area level management teams, to the delivery and future development of an effective service.
10. Develop good working relationships with other Heads of Service, Principal Social Workers, General Managers, professionals, specialist services, community and voluntary organisations.
11. Provide an appropriate level of supervision for staff consistent with good practice.
Eligibility Criteria
Qualifications and/ or experience
1. Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Social Workers Register maintained by the Social Workers Registration Board at CORU.
2. Have 5 years full time (or an aggregate of 5 years full time) relevant post qualification experience.
3. Have the requisite knowledge and ability for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
