We are seeking a qualified actuary to join the Aviva Life & Pensions Ireland (ALPI) Pricing team to focus on Bulk Purchase Annuities (BPAs).
This is an excellent opportunity for an actuary to work in a commercial role, supporting ALPI’s expansive growth strategy. The role requires engagement across multiple areas of the business, both within ALPI and the wider Aviva Group, including Product, Sales, Customer Experience, IT, Finance and Risk.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Work with ALPI pricing colleagues in both Ireland and the UK to further develop the Irish BPA proposition.
2. Engage with reinsurers to optimise pricing.
3. Engage directly with Employee Benefit Consultants (EBCs) to ensure we develop a proposition that meets market needs.
4. Engage with IT to ensure we can process the business as efficiently as possible.
5. Calculate terms for BPA quotes as required and manage engagement with EBC through the quote process.
6. Engage with other internal relevant stakeholders – e.g. Investments, Actuarial Reporting, Reinsurance, Customer Experience.
Skills & Experience:
1. Qualified actuary with extensive experience in life and pensions within the insurance industry.
2. Current or previous experience of pricing BPA business will be a distinct advantage for the role.
3. Confident communicator, with strong written and oral communication skills.
4. Self-starter with evidence of a career track record of achievement.
5. Delivery focused with a flexible attitude and approach.
6. Ability to prioritise multiple tasks simultaneously and manage expectations accordingly.
7. Knowledge of the Irish commercial and regulatory environment.
8. Strong Prophet and Excel knowledge with SQL or Python ability also an advantage.
9. Knowledge of Solvency II methodology (including VNB), IFRS17, and their impact on pricing.
