This is a product design and development position designing and providing support of highly sophisticated and reliable communications infrastructure products for professional and mission critical markets. Engineers in this position will function primarily as a mechanical engineer supporting quality issues, and cost or process improvements of existing product lines, but may also contribute to larger team projects and new product development.
Responsibilities:
1. Identifying and or executing cost reductions of part designs and existing products.
2. Supporting part change requests and quality issues identified by vendors.
3. Supporting factory quality and process issues and providing feedback to resolve.
4. Working with suppliers and commodity teams to meet cost and lead-time goals for tooling and piece parts.
5. Setting up and maintaining bills of materials and releasing mechanical prints.
6. Performing mechanical verification tests per product specifications and writing test reports.
7. Preparing concept and prototype designs of mechanical systems as well as hands on design and analysis of individual parts and components.
8. Modeling complex component and assembly designs using advanced 3D CAD tools, and interpreting and generating 2D drawings per mechanical drafting standards.
Qualifications:
1. Degree required: Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering or related field.
2. 2+ years of experience in 3D design of parts and assemblies with PTC Creo.
3. Understanding and analysis of tolerances and effects on design.
4. Understanding of Bill of Materials and assembly specifications.
5. Works autonomously but able to work effectively with other engineers within mechanical and other disciplines (electrical engineering, procurement, manufacturing, etc.).
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
