Contract/Duration: 4 Years
Remuneration: €41,319 per year, or commensurate with relevant qualifications and experience.

Summary of Post
We are seeking a Clinical Genomic Scientist for the Research Ireland Strategic Partnership programme PRISM, focusing on genomic mapping of breast cancer brain metastasis. The role is central to the PRISM translational platform, which involves multi-omic mapping of primary breast cancer to brain metastasis. Based in an ISO15189 accredited Molecular Pathology Laboratory shared by Beaumont Hospital and RCSI, the scientist will lead sample processing and sequencing analyses for cancer patients. This position is vital in establishing and streamlining workflows that support both research and clinical decision-making.
Responsibilities
* Manage and document genomic data analysis, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
* Collaborate with the research and clinical teams to interpret sequencing results and integrate findings into research and patient management.
* Assist in drafting scientific and regulatory reports, including contributions to grant and publication preparation.
* Contribute to cross-disciplinary meetings, providing technical input on genomic methods.
* Perform duties under the general direction of the Chief Medical Scientist.
* Perform all aspects of technical work to the highest standard.
* Organise the technical programme efficiently.
* Carry out routine inspections of laboratory equipment and ensure proper maintenance.
* Collaborate with the Chief Medical Scientist in maintaining efficiency and introducing new methods.
* Assist in implementing safety measures for all staff.
* Assist in the training of student scientists, on-call personnel, junior medical staff, and visiting workers as required.
* Work to the standard required in an ISO15189 accredited laboratory.
* Attend courses and meetings to maintain up-to-date knowledge.
* Perform any other duties as may be appropriate to the grade or as determined for the purposes of PRISM research grant.
Qualifications – (Essential)
* An honours Science Degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biomedical Science or related discipline.
* Post-graduate degree (MSc/PhD) in a related field.
* Post-graduate laboratory experience in the Molecular Genetics / Molecular Pathology of cancer.
* Experience in clinical cancer testing.
* Experience with next generation sequencing.
* Practical experience in an accredited clinical laboratory.
