Network Development Engineer, Traffic Topology Engineering
The AWS Networking team is looking for exceptional Network Development Engineers (NDEs) to help deploy, scale and automate one of the world's largest and complex networks.
Responsibilities:
1. Automate deployment of network infrastructure across multiple network fabrics supporting Amazon Retail Service, Kindle, Payments, and multiple AWS services.
2. Deploy, scale and automate network operations across global data centers and transit centers, including existing footprints and greenfield locations.
3. Drive scaling of current network designs to meet customer demand.
4. Create simple, repetitive deployment processes increasing velocity and quality.
5. Collaborate with internal customers on designs/solutions, bringing them from concept to production.
6. Develop and enforce network standards ensuring network deployments adhere to these standards.
7. Implement changes on the network.
8. Automate workflow and execution of global deployments.
9. Work closely with automation teams transitioning and defining new tools for unprecedented scalability.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
* Excellent IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience with IP protocols, network analysis, and robust troubleshooting skills.
* In-depth knowledge of major internet routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, MPLS, RSVP, and ISIS.
* Understanding of network hardware and packet forwarding architecture.
* Experience managing large projects to completion, either as project manager or lead.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Experience with mission-critical multicast systems.
* Experience troubleshooting switching and routing hardware.
* Strong scripting skills in Perl, shell, C, or C++.
* Strong logical thinking skills with adaptability.
* Expertise in various protocols and technologies such as DWDM, T1/DS1, DS3, SONET, 802.2/3, VLANs/STP, IPv4 & IPv6, TCP, BGP, OSPF, HSRP/GLBP, PIMv2, IGMP, LDP, TACACS, IPSEC & VPNs, netflow, DNS, HTTP.
