About Healthcare Direct
Healthcare Direct employs 66 HSCPs that include Chartered Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy and Dietetics. Healthcare Direct currently provides multidisciplinary interventions to over 130 Nursing Homes and a full program to support the orthopedic service in two private hospital groups. HCD strategy for 2025/2026 is to expand its services in tandem with Mowlam to provide post-acute rehabilitation services in a number of locations across Ireland. Healthcare Direct is a key enabler of integrated post-acute rehabilitation, offering bespoke therapy interventions to a broad range of patients. The provision of post-acute assessment, case management, rehabilitation and re-ablement will be led by HCD therapists under the governance structures established by Mowlam Healthcare in partnership with the HSE and other providers.
Healthcare Direct-Head of Operations (Business Operations and Development) position is full time, permanent, with option for hybrid working.
This role has three key functions:
1. Strategic - Working with the Head of Clinical Services-(HCD-GM) and reporting to the Head of Integrated Care (Mowlam) on identifying and managing business opportunities within the private and public sectors.
2. Operational - Responsible for managing the operational (day-to-day) functions of Healthcare Direct and working closely with the Head of Clinical Services.
3. Developmental - Developing the fundamental business processes underpinning HCD to ensure there are clear business insights, founded on accessible data.
Scope of the role
The role has three main aims:
1. Strategic - Working closely with the Head of Clinical Services (GM) under the strategic leadership of the Head of Integrated Care (Mowlam) to undertake a critical review of market opportunities in context of potential growth of HCD.
2. Examine internal capacity and capability to fulfill future growth in tandem with HCD Clinical Lead.
3. Develop and implement both short term and long-term operational goals and strategies which includes identifying opportunities to expand HCD within existing business.
4. Targeting opportunities for new business through merger/acquisitions.
5. Working with Mowlam Finance on costings/projections.
6. Revising existing business to maximize efficiency.
7. Working with existing business to ensure communication and accountability is addressed.
1. Operational - Leading the day-to-day business operations of HCD that allows services to be sustainable and delivered at scale. This includes:
2. Providing leadership, direction and guidance for all business-related activities.
3. Manage the budgeting process and the financial performance of the business.
4. Reporting via the Head of Integrated Care and Chief Finance Officer to the Board of Mowlam on the financial and operational performance of the company.
5. Develop multi-year financial and staffing resource projections which will support the strategic plans of the company.
6. Prepare a robust pricing model to assess all new opportunities.
7. Oversee the development and implementation of company policies, procedures and internal controls.
8. Overseeing and ensuring HR, Finance and Administrative functions to ensure HCD meets legislative, policy and business governance requirements.
9. Working closely day to day with HCD Admin support staff and with Mowlam HR and Finance to ensure:
* Staffing is planned and recruitment needs are projected and mobilized.
* Financial process follows good governance and in line with Mowlam processes.
* Robust Debtor management processes.
1. Developing and ensuring good processes are in place to handle data required for the business and meeting data protection requirements.
2. Work with the wider HCD and Mowlam teams to develop marketing strategies.
3. Supporting HCD Head of Clinical Services and Regional Clinical Leads in operational matters.
4. Managing new and existing SLAs and ensuring timely review of same.
5. Monitoring KPIs to ensure compliance across all service lines.
6. Putting good operational practices in place to monitor day to day functions.
1. Developmental - Leading a critical review of current operating systems of the business and set out a development plan to ensure operating systems in use are fit for purpose and sufficient to support the growth targets of the company.
2. Critically interrogate existing business process using available data (financial and otherwise).
3. Develop a user friendly dashboard platform to provide timely and accurate data to key stakeholders in the company across clinical, operational and finance.
4. Work with HCD senior team to develop visibility of Clinical KPIs within scope of HCD business delivery across all service lines.
5. Explore use of technology to enhance HCD operational efficiency and service model.
6. Develop data systems that provide insights into opportunities for HCD growth internally (existing contracts) and potential growth areas.

* Full driver’s license as the role requires travel (Ireland).
Essential experience
The candidate requires:
* Management experience with a minimum of 3 years in equivalent/similar role.
* Healthcare knowledge either directly working in healthcare or working in a related (commercial) area within healthcare.
Desirable qualifications
* Level 8 (degree level) education in relevant area.
