Overview
Based in the Waterford site reporting to planning leadership in the USA, the Buyer is a skilled, service-focused professional responsible for direct material procurement and inventory management across multiple U.S. manufacturing sites. Operating within a shared services model, the role ensures timely, cost-effective material availability and supports plant-specific procurement needs with responsiveness and precision. This role would adhere to a 11 a.m. GMT - 7 p.m. GMT schedule from M-F.
Responsibilities
1. Multi-Site MRP Procurement and Demand Management: Oversee MRP-based procurement for multiple manufacturing sites, ensuring accurate and timely orders aligned with production schedules. Monitor demand signals to avoid shortages and adjust procurement activity as needed.
2. Data Analytics in Procurement: Use historical trends and current forecasts to make informed, proactive adjustments to supply plans. Apply data insights to improve material availability and procurement strategies.
3. Procure-to-Pay (P2P) Expertise: Ensure accuracy and efficiency across the full P2P cycle, from requisition through payment. Troubleshoot issues quickly to minimize disruptions.
4. Manufacturing Procurement Specialization: Bring experience in sourcing and managing materials for production environments, with a focus on meeting quality, cost, and lead-time targets.
5. Demand and Supply Planning Knowledge: Use ERP systems to analyze component and sub-assembly needs, identifying gaps in availability, cost, lead time, and safety stock levels.
6. Inventory Management: Maintain optimal raw material inventory, supporting production while minimizing excess, slow-moving, and obsolete materials.
7. Inventory Program Implementation: Support programs like Consignment, JIT, and VMI by collaborating across sites to ensure consistency and efficiency in material flow.
8. Procurement Lifecycle Management: Manage procurement from sourcing to PO placement, ensuring alignment with internal planning and vendor capabilities.
9. Continuous Improvement: Contribute to ongoing process improvements in procurement, planning, and shared services operations, supporting scalability and service excellence.
Qualifications
- Education: B.S. degree or equivalent; supply chain or operations degree preferred.
- Experience: 3+ years in business, ideally supporting multi-site or shared service environments.
- Service-Oriented: Committed to meeting the unique needs of manufacturing plants with urgency and care.
- Analytical: Strong data and analytics skills to support planning and procurement decisions.
- P2P Expertise: Deep understanding of procure-to-pay processes and procurement efficiency.
- Manufacturing Knowledge: Experience sourcing materials for production with cost and quality focus.
- Global Collaboration: Comfortable working across cultures, especially between U.S. and Ireland.
