We are:
St. Catherine’s Association is a non-profit organisation and registered charity funded by the HSE that provides health related supports to children and young adults with moderate to profound intellectual disabilities and autism in the Wicklow area. These services include Respite and Short Break Support Services, Adult Day Services and Residential Services and access to clinical supports through referral to Children’s Disability Network Team.
Job Role:
o Provide a high quality of life and supportive atmosphere for individuals in our care.
o Promote involvement and participation in all activities.
o Implement programmes designed to assist in learning new skills.
o Assist individuals to carry out tasks & activities and offer support as necessary.
o Develop close contacts locally and encourage community integration.
o Administer medication and address basic health care and personal needs.
o Ensure written records are completed and up to date.
o Reports to: Residential/Respite Services Manager
Essential:
o Social Care Worker - Graduate or studying towards QQI Level 7 BA in Applied Social Studies, Social Care or equivalent.
o Care Assistant – QQI Level 5 in Social Care, Social Studies of equivalent.
o An interest in working with individuals that have Intellectual Disabilities and Autism
o Person-centred approach
o Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
o Flexibility and reliability for shift work (e.g. sleepovers / night duty, weekends, holidays, etc.)
o Knowledge of HIQA regulations for persons with disabilities in residential and respite services.
o Full driving license and willing to drive company vehicles.
Desirable:
o Experience supporting individuals with behaviours that challenge.
