Our client in the Renewable energy industry is looking for a Planning Programme Manager to join their Renewable Energy Business Unit. The Role: The primary responsibilities of this role include: Project Leadership: Oversee the development and submission of high-quality planning applications for large-scale renewable infrastructure projects (e.g., Wind, Solar, BESS). Manage all pre-planning activities, including constraints assessments, baseline surveys, turbine layout, infrastructure design, and the preparation of key planning documents such as EIAR. Stay updated on legislative changes, policy developments, and local authority plans to optimize project opportunities and outcomes. Stakeholder & Partnership Management: Engage proactively with Joint Venture partners to ensure contractual obligations, including Service Level Agreements (SLAs), are met. Establish clear communication channels, maintain strong relationships, and manage expectations effectively. Develop internal structures that ensure efficient service delivery while safeguarding company resources. Strategic Planning & Project Execution: Develop and implement project strategies that maximize commercial benefits and ensure successful delivery. Apply best-practice project management methodologies (e.g., PMI standards) to oversee dependencies, resources, contractor coordination, risk management, and financial tracking. Support project managers in risk mitigation and recovery actions when necessary. Ensure all procurement activities align with company policy and oversee the performance of principal consultants. Assist in annual milestone setting and budgeting. Collaboration & Problem-Solving: Build strong professional relationships across functions within and outside the organization. Work autonomously with excellent time-management and organizational skills. Ensure all formal project structures and documentation meet the highest professional standards in programming, risk management, finance, and planning. Community & Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with the Stakeholder and Advocacy Manager to develop and implement a comprehensive communication and consultation strategy for local communities and key stakeholders. Lead engagement plans across the project portfolio, ensuring effective communication with all statutory and non-statutory consultees involved in the planning process for renewable energy projects. Due Diligence & Investment Evaluation: Leverage expertise to assess third-party investment opportunities under consideration by the Renewable Energy business unit. Lead due diligence efforts related to planning permissions, environmental considerations, and consenting processes. Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to Health & Safety legislation and regulatory requirements, prioritizing the well-being of employees and the public throughout all project phases, including design, construction, testing, and commissioning. Leadership & Performance Management: Lead and manage direct reports, fostering a high-performance culture. Actively participate in the performance management process to drive team and individual objectives. The Person: The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, skills, and experience: Education: Honours Degree (NFQ Level 8) in a technical field such as Engineering, Environmental Science, or Planning. A Postgraduate qualification (NFQ Level 9) in a relevant discipline (e.g., Project Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, Planning Law) is desirable. Experience: 7-10 years of experience, with at least 3-5 years at a Senior Project Manager level or equivalent. Strong track record of managing multi-million-euro infrastructure projects, with expertise in planning, environmental assessment, and consenting processes. Experience in programme management, contract negotiation, budgeting, and resource forecasting across diverse projects with varying risk profiles and timelines. Previous experience in Joint Ventures is an advantage. Skills & Competencies: Membership in an Environmental or Engineering professional body is desirable. Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills. Proven ability to lead and develop technical professionals from diverse backgrounds. Proficiency in MS Project, MS Word, and MS Excel.
