This is a seasonal position (March to September) 28 weeks
37.5 hours per week; 5 days a week over a 7-day period. The successful candidate will be required to work up to 3 weekends per 4 week cycle. €14 per hour and Sunday Premium.
This position requires someone who enjoys working with people with an interest in history. Working as part of a small team who are responsible for the front of house activities, it will require an individual with the enthusiasm and commitment to deliver excellent customer service. The candidate must be available to work weekends and be willing to deliver guided tours of the House & Victorian Working Gardens (full training will be given).
Job Summary
Visitor Services Tasks:
* Act as the first point of contact for all visitors to Fota House at the Visitor Desk ensuring that high customer service standards are always adhered to, and all queries are dealt with in an efficient and friendly manner.
* Provide guided tours of the property for individual and group visits.
* Preparation of all visitor access areas for opening to the public ensuring that all the required doors are open, that areas not open to the public are secure, that lights and equipment are switched on, public areas are clean and presentable, and indoor & outdoor toilets are clean and have sufficient supplies in advance of opening. Also responsible for ensuring outdoor seating area is clean.
* Ensuring retail area is clean and merchandised advising Operations Manager of any requirement for additional stock, omissions or issues with the stock system.
* Answering incoming phone calls and answering intercom calls from the Traffic Barrier system ensuring optimum traffic management exiting the site.
* Process payments via the EPOS system including the end of day cash management process in line with IHT financial procedures.
Health & Safety
* Ensuring that the Irish Heritage Trust safety policy is adhered to at all times.
* Ensuring that volunteer tour guides carry radios with them and that house safety rules are being explained to guests at the start of tours.
* Notify the Operations Manager, General Manager or Collection Care Co-Ordinator of any emergency issue with staff or visitors to the building.
Additional Duties
* From time to time may be asked to perform administrative tasks to support various departments.
* You may be asked to assist the events team with events including setup and takedown.
Key Requirements
* Minimum of 1 years experience in a busy customer/ visitor facing role in Tourism/Retail
* Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
* Strong administration skills with the ability to prioritise and deliver tasks in a timely manner
* Excellent IT skills, ideally with some experience working with a Point-of-Sale system and Microsoft Office
* Attention to detail and good organisational skills
* Interest in history and willingness to deliver guided tours
