Job Overview
Precious Minds is looking for an enthusiastic, passionate, and dedicated Early Years Educator to join our team. As an Early Years Educator, you will be responsible for creating and delivering an engaging, child-centered learning environment. You will work collaboratively with your colleagues to ensure that all children receive the highest quality care and support in their early learning journey.
Key Responsibilities
* Child-Centered Learning & Development:
o Plan, implement, and assess play-based activities that stimulate the development of children across all areas: cognitive, social, emotional, and physical.
o Observe and document children’s progress, ensuring developmental milestones are being met and individualized plans are in place where needed.
o Provide support for children with additional needs and adapt activities to ensure inclusivity.
* Creating a Positive and Safe Environment:
o Foster a warm, welcoming, and safe environment for children, ensuring their wellbeing is always prioritized.
o Promote positive behaviour and implement strategies to manage challenging behaviours.
o Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed, maintaining a clean and organized space.
* Team Collaboration:
o Collaborate with fellow educators to create and execute a comprehensive and dynamic curriculum.
o Share observations, insights, and strategies with colleagues to ensure a cohesive approach to each child's learning.
o Engage in regular team meetings to discuss educational plans, child development, and team goals.
* Parent and Caregiver Communication:
o Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with parents and caregivers, keeping them updated on their child’s progress and wellbeing.
o Provide guidance and support to parents as needed, ensuring they feel confident in their child’s development and learning experiences.
* Administrative Duties:
o Keep accurate and up-to-date records of children's development, including learning journals and progress reports.
o Maintain proper documentation in line with regulatory requirements, including safeguarding and health and safety protocols.
* Professional Development:
o Participate in training and development opportunities to stay current with best practices in early childhood education.
o Attend workshops, team meetings, and other professional development sessions as required.
Essential Criteria
* Qualifications:
o Level 6 qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent) is required.
* Experience:
o Previous experience working in an early years setting or similar childcare environment is preferred.
o Experience in planning and delivering age-appropriate activities for children.
* Skills & Attributes:
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
o Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to working with children.
o Strong organizational and time management skills.
o Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to a collaborative working environment.
o Knowledge and understanding of child safeguarding and health and safety standards.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience working with children with additional needs.
* Knowledge of the Aistear curriculum framework.
* First Aid Certification (or willingness to complete certification).
* Fluent in more than one language (desirable but not essential).
