We are currently recruiting a Night Porter to join our Nights team. The main purpose of this position is to provide assistance and visible presence and security to guests and staff and to oversee the smooth running of the hotel throughout the night.
The nights team would operate bar service – to ensure the proper service of drink to residents in the residents bar and provide beverage service to rooms during night if required in accordance with SOP.
To assist the Night Manager carrying out duties which may entail providing security, reporting and customer service. This is a position of responsibility which requires the ability to operate with courtesy, confidentiality and discretion.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Complete fire rounds of all corridors, basements, public areas and assigned areas, ensuring fire doors are clear.
2. Report any hazards, breakages or anomalies discovered.
3. Ensure all exits (not fire exits) are clear, locked and secure.
4. Ensure all windows are locked.
5. Ensure that all function guests and non-residents have left the premises in a courteous fashion.
6. Be vigilant for any suspicious characters, packages or happenings.
7. Enter any incident (no matter how small) in the incident report system.
8. Ensure that all keys are stored away in the key box before going off duty.
9. Ensure all cash handling procedures are carried out in accordance with company policy.
10. Ensure all monies are safely locked away in the prescribed manner.
11. Be aware of and compliant with all emergency procedures for accidents, fire, evacuation and illness.
12. Carry out all cleaning duties as per SOP.
13. Ensure function/meeting rooms are set up according to specifications.
14. Assist in front office checking in late arrivals/checking out early departures, completing full night audit, checking floats, and ensuring Reception is manned at all times.
15. Provide room service where necessary in accordance with SOP.
16. Spot check hot water and heating to ensure they are operational.
17. Work in a professional and friendly manner and undertake any reasonable duty assigned.
18. Abide by the standards, procedures and policies adopted by the hotel.
