Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Engineering to oversee the performance of our engineering team, and help the team deliver across our accounts. This role is integral to fostering innovation, and ensuring operational excellence across our internal and client-facing platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping our technology platform partnerships, ensuring our system infrastructure operates smoothly, and continually guiding our team to improve their performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Management:
Set and monitor the engineering team's key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess performance and productivity.
Lead the recruitment process, including creating job specifications, interviewing, and onboarding new team members.
Continuously improve engineering processes, fostering collaboration and a positive team culture that aligns with All human’s brand values.
Run effective weekly team meetings and enable cross-team collaboration with other departments.
Client Engagement:
Be the technical relationship-lead and advisory principal for key clients.
Maintain a consumer-focused outlook, aiding in the delivery of IT projects to market.
Prepare for and conduct technical workshops with clients, communicating complex technical strategies in an accessible and impactful way.
Technology Leadership:
Lead the strategy for technology platforms, partnerships, and external relationships.
Communicate technology strategy both internally and externally, aligning with business objectives.
Keep abreast of emerging technology trends, best practices, and innovations in the industry.
Infrastructure Management:
Supervise the internal system infrastructure in collaboration with our managed service provider to ensure functionality, efficiency, and scalability.
Maintain and enforce data protection and information security processes to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Technical Innovation and Strategy:
Collaborate with Sales, Client Service, and Operations teams to define and deliver service offerings that meet client expectations.
Identify, compare, select, and implement technology solutions to meet the current and future needs of both All human and its clients.
Take initiative in thought leadership, driving innovation, and encouraging creative approaches to solving technical challenges.
Compliance and Governance:
Ensure that all technology practices adhere to regulatory standards, including GDPR and data protection laws.
Approve purchases of technological licenses, equipment and software, establishing partnerships with key IT providers.
Key Qualifications:
Experience:
Proven experience in a senior engineering or technology leadership role, ideally within a digital consultancy or technology-driven organisation.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive collaboration, and manage relationships with both internal teams and external partners.
Experience with known CMS technologies such as WordPress, Kentico, SiteCore, Umbraco or any headless CMS would be an advantage.
Experience with .NET, or React frameworks is a strong bonus, as our engineering team works primarily with these technologies.
Familiarity with leading ecommerce platforms would be beneficial.
Experience with Native app development for iOS or Android would also be a bonus.
Technical Expertise:
In-depth knowledge of technology infrastructure, including cloud platforms, system architecture, and cybersecurity best practices.
Hands-on experience in identifying, evaluating, and implementing technology solutions that address business needs.
Expertise in developing and executing technology strategies that drive business growth.
Leadership Skills:
Strong people management skills with experience setting KPIs, running performance reviews, and leading recruitment efforts.
Ability to inspire, lead, and mentor an engineering team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Business Acumen:
Experience working closely with sales, operations, and client services teams to align technology solutions with business objectives.
Consumer-focused mindset, with a track record of delivering technical solutions that improve customer experience.
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
