The role will require strong technical skills and communication and interaction with managers, engineers, internal and external team members, suppliers and clients. In executing the role it is paramount that Health & Safety, Ethical and Quality requirements, both legislative and company specific, are respected and taken account of.As a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer (Proposals) you will be expected to work in a design office environment, whilst providing working design solutions to technical problems with the minimum of supervision. Your duties are to professionally execute your role with due skill and diligence. As a professional engineer you are expected to apply your training, qualifications, knowledge and experience to your role and share your skills in order to produce detailed design solutions for Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants.Duties of the Role include: Receive the Clients brief/remit, formulate the scope of works and develop the design philosophy.Provide best value working design solutions to technical problemsManage members of the design team to ensure the timely delivery of information, checking the work of other members of staff and providing assistance to their continued learning and developmentWork effectively within a multi-disciplinary design environment such that designs consider the impact across all relevant disciplinesUndertake calculations using design software but also by hand as required.Ensuring that all Project Documentation is managed according to the requirements of the Project Quality Plan and project specific requirementsResponsibility for ensuring that your work within your department is carried out accurately and with due diligenceEffective Time management and execution of output within defined timeline and budgetary constraintsEnsuring effective, professional and appropriate communication at all times whilst protecting the interest of the companyProblem solving and application of good engineering principlesUnderstanding and ensuring compliance with Clients Specifications, User Requirement Specifications, Health and Safety Requirements, Company Quality requirements, Company Policy, legislation, design standards and good engineering practiceSupporting and assisting Managers, and colleaguesAdhere to the Company’s ethical conduct guidelines and maintain a working environment which is supportive and respectful of other employeesUndertake duties of a general nature that may be required by your managerRequired skills for this role; Accredited NFQ Level 8 Honours Bachelor Degree in relevant discipline7+ years previous experience in a similar positionChartered (or near Chartered) Membership of a relevant Institution (e.g. IEI, CIWEM)Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment industryHighly organised and efficientStrong Problem solving skillsNumerate and highly computer literateEffective Time Management and Communication skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsWillingness to lead by example, with a strong attention to detail and accuracySelf-sustaining engineer with ability to effectively work as part of a team and on own initiativeCompetent user of relevant design software packages, as well as Microsoft OfficeExtensive knowledge of current market conditionsAbility to work under pressure, whilst ensuring deadlines are metA proven commitment to continued professional developmentCustomer FocusedSelf motivatedYou must have analytical and visionary mindsetPlease note:If you are an EU/EEA national, you will be asked to show proof of right to work in Ireland.If you are a non-EU/EEA national, you will require current and valid permission to work and reside in the Republic of Ireland.Information on legislation and guides to the procedures in relation to obtaining greencard permits ,work permits, spousal/dependant permits is available on the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation website.
