Position Description
The Power Stations job family is focussed on work activities related to the generation of electricity across a portfolio of station assets using a variety of fuel types.
The successful candidate will be a team player, flexible and a self-starter with good problem-solving skills. They should be able to demonstrate the ability to lead as required, communicate and relate effectively with staff at all levels in the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Planning and Execution of outages on the main Combined Cycle Gas Turbine plant and Open Cycle Gas Turbine plant and other major items of plant.
2. Development of contingency plans associated with the above.
3. Procurement of contracts, programmes, project and commercial documentation associated with outages.
4. Support execution, progress and reporting on all planned/unplanned outages and routine maintenance.
5. Ensuring plans meet safety, environmental, technical, and commercial targets.
6. Co-ordination of day-to-day maintenance planning activities.
7. Managing site specific projects that have defined time or functional start and end criteria, including CAPEX projects, plant investigations, technical and commercial project assignments, audits etc.
8. Manage and develop site based computerised maintenance management systems to suit business and plant needs.
9. Develop and test site Business Continuity Plans.
10. Coordinate the preparation of monthly reports, business reviews and associated follow up actions.
11. Develop procedures and plans in the above areas to support the stations ISO quality standards.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
1. Experience in a Power Plant, Marine or similar process industry in a commercial environment is considered essential, preferably from a Mechanical Engineering hands-on background.
2. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to manage and lead projects, coordinate activities, chair meetings, and manage unplanned changes.
3. Ability to prepare reports for different levels of the organisation and make presentations as required.
4. Working experience in the use, development and management of planning software and computerised maintenance management systems would be an advantage.
Qualifications
1. It is desirable that the incumbent has a 3rd level qualification in engineering or a related technical/science based subject, preferably from a Mechanical Engineering hands-on background.
Location
This position is based in Aghada Generation Station, Whitegate, Co. Cork, P25XE94.
Reporting to
The successful candidate will report to the Technical Services Manager or equivalent.
