National Land & Social Enterprise Coordinator
The purpose of this role is to execute Business Services processes and achieve quality and efficiency level required for the specific business services and to ensure application of overall framework that allows effective governance, oversight and administration of all land-based activity and enterprises including social enterprises in Camphill Communities of Ireland.
You will oversee and adhere to defined strategy and processes, staffing requirements for all related services, as well as quality and productivity targets for each community. Oversight for the annual regional planning, organisation, supervision, and administration of land-based activities and enterprises/social enterprises. Ensure quarterly reviews against annual plans for each land-based activity per community and associated social enterprises.
Duties
Farm managers are employed to manage and carry out duties associated with the day-to-day and long-term management of community farms and gardens. It is their responsibility to ensure that the farm and/or garden runs efficiently and achieves within agreed budgets and that it provides socially and vocationally valid roles, programmes, and activities for Community Members with Support Needs (CMSNs) and day attendees. They may directly act or engage as programme facilitators in this role also supported by programme assistants, residential staff, and short-term volunteers (STVs). Their day-to-day activities will depend on the type of farm being managed:
1. Livestock (animals)
2. Arable (crops)
3. Mixed (animals and crops)
4. Horticulture and garden activities
5. Forestry, recreational and amenity
6. Food processing supply of foods to homes/sales of product to external customers
7. Development and support to other social enterprise activities related to farming/horticulture/food processing/traditional crafts/plant sales/coffee shop and new initiatives arising from interest of CMSNs and their local community
8. Support to residential and day service regional operations in developing new lines of interest in training, enterprise, social and recreational, and socially valued roles for CMSNs
Camphill Communities of Ireland operates a residential and day service in 15 centres, in which approx. 250 residents and day attendees live and take part in day activities, delivered by a workforce of approx. 500 persons comprised of employees and voluntary co-workers.
Duties & Responsibilities
The principal duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
1. To manage and lead inclusive programmes, training and social role opportunities for participants based on or aiming towards organic gardening and farming.
2. Provide enable and support meaningful work, training and personal development opportunities for people according to their ability, personal choice and vocational interests.
3. Contribute, report to and engage with the local management team in terms of providing effective management oversight and safeguarding of people and operational management of the farm and garden activities.
4. Develop proposals for management that will support new opportunities and initiatives with potential to add value to the experience of CMSNs, day attendees, trainees.
5. Assurance of compliance in all farm operations including with DAFM grant schemes and herd owner/herd keeper compliances, organic schemes.
6. Assurance of farm/garden activities from a risk management perspective for CMSNs and day attendees and staff/visitors.
7. Assurance of farm, garden grounds H&S practices in respect of our needs and population.
8. Assurance on safety of food produce and support systems such as water usage in compliance with our own needs and relevant H&S/Environmental and food safety legislation and standards.
9. Work with Land and Enterprises & Social Enterprise Lead to develop an overall farm and garden strategic plan.
10. Work with SMT on best strategy for Camphill in response to revised EU Post 2020 Common Agriculture Policy.
11. Strategic planning and development of farms and gardens nationally.
12. Manage requirements on specific grant funded projects.
13. Lead on the core values of land and 'ownership' within community through proven initiatives.
14. Support CMSNs and their support staff in developing significant social and community roles.
15. Work in partnership with other training bodies to develop and deliver training/education.
16. Contribute to the planning and delivery of open days/family days, and Camphill festivals.
17. Identify a lead in each community to demonstrate and validate how it is a progressive enabler for our people.
18. Keep financial records up to date.
19. Apply for funding - as appropriate.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Level 7 on the QQI Framework - Bachelor's Degree level in Agriculture, Rural Development or an Agri Food/Agri Business or Business and Community Development related qualification is required.
A qualification of Level 5 Major Award on QQI Framework in Health Care or Social Care is a distinct advantage.
A minimum of 2 years' experience in a Management/Leadership role within a social care, rural development/community development role.
A significant amount of relevant experience in both animal and horticultural based enterprises.
Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety and risk assessment and management.
You must hold a full driver's licence including agricultural/tractor class.

Details Of The Role
Salary Scale: Grade V €47,819 - €57,272 Per annum (based on a 40 hour week)
Location: Based in Grangebeg Camphill Community, W91 WN96
Travel: Travel to other Camphill Communities as required
Duration: Fulltime 40 hours per week - Permanent
