Who are we looking for?
This role is the Designated Person for Operational Risk (PCF-39B) on Carne’s Irish Management Company, being Ireland’s largest third-party management company managing both UCITS and AIF products.
The successful candidate will be responsible for oversight of operational risk, including the outsourcing framework and operational resilience framework and will be supported by the Group Operational Risk function. The successful candidate will work closely with the other Designated Persons and liaise with the Board of Directors, the Director responsible for Operational Effectiveness (OED), the CEO, the COO, the Directors and other employees to support the Management Company/AIFM.
What are the minimum requirements you need for the role?
* At least 10 years of experience in an asset management or funds environment which includes specific Fund/Investment/Operational Risk experience.
* Understands the Operational Risk Management function within the Management Company/AIFM.
* Hold a third level qualification.
* The ability to identify and prioritise areas of importance using a risk-based approach.
* The ability to translate EU and CBI regulations and CBI guidance into practical procedures.
* An understanding of the EU regulatory framework.
* Excellent knowledge of the AIFM and UCITS legal & regulatory framework, in particular with regard to the identification of operational risks within Funds and its delegates organisations.
* An understanding of the construction of a Fund NAV.
* An understanding of the investment market and how it operates.
* A leaders mindset.
* Can work as a team player with a proactive and positive attitude to pressured situations.
What is your role and your responsibilities?
* Act as the Designated Person for Operational Risk Management (PCF-39B) on Carne Global Fund Managers (Ireland) Limited in line with Central Bank of Ireland’s expectations and standards with regard to Fitness and Probity and Individual Accountability.
* Design and manage the operational framework for the oversight of funds under management, including working with other designated persons and operational teams to ensure the optimal model in place to address all requirements of the CBI’s Fund Management Guidance, UCITS and AIF regulations.
* Implement and maintain the Outsourcing and Operational Resilience Frameworks.
* Investigate incidents and errors within fund structures and within the Manager to ensure they are recorded and resolved in accordance with industry standards.
* Work collaboratively with other Designated Persons.
* Participate in committees and regulatory projects.
* Liaise with fund’s stakeholders such as investment managers, administrators, auditors, etc.
* Support and/or Lead projects for process improvements and/or product design support.
* Respond immediately to any material operational risk issues escalated and escalate as appropriate to the Board, Operational Committee, Risk Committee or Executive Directors in accordance with procedures.
