Senior Payments and Middleware Engineer

PTSB has embarked on a significant Payments transformation program. This will lead to an enhanced customer experience, through re-development of the delivery channels and the ongoing evolution of the banks infrastructure and operations in order to provide cost-effective, secure, and resilient services to our support and enable this transformation a significant and exciting opportunity has become available for a Senior Payments and Middleware Engineer in our Enterprise IT Services department.
Key Responsibilities:
* Functional Strategy & Delivery: Support the existing CI/CD and Automation implementation while continuously identifying opportunities to enhance and grow the capability.
* Support a collaborative and aligned roadmap with the application teams to progress the development of the Middleware capability for the organization with a common backlog.
* Support the automation first strategy within EITS eliminating repetitive tasks and enabling the focus on higher value activities.
* Maintain the ongoing service and cyber security integrity of our technology stack.
Risk Management & Control:
* Ensure a good understanding of the risk landscape across the in scope processes.
* Proactively seek to minimize audit findings by implementing effective and permanent solutions while considering the wider implications of any findings.
* Support the successful remediation of the findings from the current or any future audits.
Leadership & Culture:
* Lead the values of the organization acting as a role model within the team.
* Support a culture of open discussion within the team.
Stakeholder Engagement:
* Ensure that monthly reports and metrics are optimized, delivered on time with relevant updates and high accuracy.
Requirements:
* You will have experience in the implementation and support of services that run on the Red Hat Open Shift Container platform.
* You will come from a software development or engineering background possessing a strong understanding of development and SCM practices.
* You will have proven experience in identifying and implementing continuous improvement through automation and process.
* Ability to lead local projects and initiatives at a technical level while ensuring effective communication to stakeholders.
* Excellent problem-solving abilities with the ability to direct solution determination and implementation of effective and permanent solutions - fix it for the future mindset.
* Security policy management and its delivery within the context of automation services; patch management, certificate management.
* Ability to manage multiple competing priorities effectively.
* Ability to mentor and technically guide your team.
* A minimum of 8 years experience in a similar role.
Desired Qualifications:
* Real world experience of IBM MQ, Apache Kafka and/or similar message broker solutions.
* Hands on experience of SWIFT, Safe Watch, OPICs.
* Hands-on administration experience in one or more of; Windows, Linux, Unix.
* Industry certifications in relevant technologies desired.
* Experience within a Financial Services environment.
