Lab Supervisor to work evening shift roster.
The successful candidate will report to the Laboratory Operations Manager and assist in coordinating operations of the area primarily on the late shift and weekend, ensuring that all activities are conducted to the highest standards.
This role will support the Laboratory Operations Manager / Technical Lead in ensuring that all lab activities comply with health and safety policies and documented standard operating procedures, with a focus on managing team troubleshooting for any technical issues.
Specific ResponsibilitiesPerform routine and specialist analytical testing on a range of biological samples.
Lead operations in their area primarily on the late shift and weekend, ensuring activities are conducted to the highest standards.
Assist the Laboratory Operations Manager / Technical Lead in coordinating and managing laboratory operations and service delivery.
Manage all members of the operational team, including work schedules, performance, training & development, housekeeping, safety, quality, and documentation.
Coordinate the onboarding and training of laboratory scientists and other trainee scientists, ensuring training records meet Quality Department requirements.
Drive troubleshooting within the area to identify root causes of assays not meeting required QC metrics and manage reports through the quality system with NCs/IRs/CAPA.Support the Laboratory Operations Manager / Technical Lead to ensure the laboratory operates within the prescribed financial budget.
Work closely with the Quality Manager to ensure working practices comply with ISO17025 standards and/or other relevant accreditations.
Ensure working practices align with company Health and Safety regulations.
Maintain equipment, performing checks as per SOPs and reporting non-conformities to the Quality Manager promptly.
Manage stock, monitor inventory levels, conduct daily stock checks, and report low inventory levels to the Laboratory Operations Manager / Technical Lead.
Support the team with day-to-day tasks and workload prioritization, communicating any risks to deadlines or projects to senior management in advance.
Assist the sample receipt and preparation team with processing samples to meet turnaround times when needed.
Collaborate with seniors from other departments to track sample progress throughout the laboratory, ensuring efficient processing within required TATs.
Carry out procedures accurately and according to standard operating procedures to produce reliable data and results.
Manage project tracking files, ensuring they are updated daily, using the information to track and assess KPIs, and providing feedback to senior management.
Ensure safe and correct disposal of chemical residue and other waste.
