Job Summary
This role will oversee the finance function, ensuring robust financial management, compliance, and decision-making support across the business. As Head of Finance you will lead a team of three finance executives, develop and execute accounting procedures, and offer insights to drive business growth and efficiency.
The Head of Finance will be a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for providing financial oversight, guidance, and strategic financial planning for Carlingford Adventure Centre (CAC), SkyPark Carlingford (SP), Carlingford Holiday Homes (CHH), Property Group (PG), TTW Ire/UK Management Outsourcing (MO).
Financial strategy and reporting to support growth and efficiency.

Carlingford Adventure Group is the leading adventure centre and adventure family in Ireland, based in one of the most beautiful parts of Ireland, just 1hr from Dublin & Belfast. Family owned for over 35 years we now provide over 40 adventure activities and a 300-bed hostel, with over 100 staff at peak times. The Mc Ardle Group expanded in 2022 with the launch of Tree Tops Walks Ire/UK, marking the opening of tower No.1 in Avondale Co. Wicklow. We are looking for the right person to sustain our growth and lead us into new adventures.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Analysis
1. Prepare comprehensive income / profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flows, projections, management accounts and other essential financial documents on a (weekly), monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
2. Track the company’s financial performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
3. Conduct regular budget analysis and track billing, collections, and tax information for financial accuracy.
Strategic Financial Management
1. Provide actionable recommendations to the General Manager for revenue enhancement and cost reduction.
2. Conduct investment appraisals, risk management analysis, and market research to support strategic financial planning.
3. Implement strategies to increase financial efficiency, maximize revenue, and manage costs effectively.
Internal Controls and Compliance
1. Ensure robust financial and treasury controls are in place, overseeing cash flow and cash management.
2. Oversee company taxation affairs, liaising with external tax advisors for compliance and strategic guidance.
3. Lead the end-to-end audit process, ensuring all financial systems align with regulatory standards.
Team Leadership and Development
1. Supervise and mentor the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture and supporting career development.
2. Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of finance staff.
Business Partnering and Decision Support
1. Provide financial insights and guidance to non-financial managers for effective decision-making.
2. Support commercial decision-making through margin, tender, and pricing analysis.
3. Conduct and present financial statements and business activity reports to the executive team.
4. Leadership, guidance and support across all KPI’s, Bonuses and Grants.
Requirements
1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Certified Accounting, or similar field
2. Proven experience in financial management, preferably within the adventure, hospitality, or service industries.
3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to financial strategy.
4. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to guide and develop the finance team.
5. Proficient in financial software and ERP systems; familiarity with taxation and audit processes.
