Job Title: Product Development Engineer - Mechanical Design
Seeking a Product Development Engineer with strong background in Mechanical Design to deliver innovative design solutions and drive product development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead introduction of internally designed products from concept through to manufacture, including creating 3D CAD models using Solid Edge 3D software.
* Develop technical drawings, product specifications, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and product costings to enable manufacture.
* Select and source appropriate third-party components for designs.
* Ensure compliance with customer specifications, regulatory standards, and performance levels for safety, function, and reliability.
* Conduct independent research to understand relevant codes and standards.
* Collaborate with production team to address design concerns, develop jigs/fixtures, and resolve problems effectively.
* Support sales through creation of sales drawings, preliminary technical specifications, site visits, and providing technical advice.
* Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance product quality, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
* Assist management in developing accurate estimates of time, resources, and materials for projects.
Requirements:
* 8+ years' experience as a design or product development engineer within sectors such as data centres, construction, transport, or material handling.
* Bachelor's or Master's degree (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or related field.
* Proficiency in 3D modelling and technical drawing, specifically for sheet metal design; Solid Edge preferred.
* Excellent communication skills, capable of leading technical discussions and presenting ideas clearly.
* Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and engage with stakeholders effectively.
* Strong leadership skills with proactive, self-driven attitude.
* Adaptability and willingness to undertake diverse tasks.
* UK driving license.
