The position which will be an acting role covering Carers leave is based in the Residential and Aftercare Services at Wellsprings, Wandesford Quay, Cork, with oversight of both Residential and Outreach Services.
It is a full time position of 35 hours per week.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Governance and Strategic Leadership
1. Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement the Strategic Plan.
2. Ensure compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements, including the Companies Act and Charities Regulator Governance Code.
3. Lead the development and rollout of sound policies and procedures in child protection, care practice, HR, health and safety, finance, and compliance.
4. Report on risks, governance, and service performance to the Board, preparing detailed quarterly audits, KPI reports, and action plans.
Service Oversight and Management
1. Oversee day-to-day operations of Residential and Outreach Services, ensuring quality, safety, and adherence to SLAs.
2. Develop and implement a Care Framework tailored to the needs of Wellsprings’ service users.
3. Manage operational activities, ensuring they align with best practices and funders' requirements.
4. Monitor significant risks and ensure robust risk management policies are in place for young people, staff, and services.
Financial Oversight and Reporting
1. Manage budgets, payroll, and financial reporting in compliance with statutory and funder requirements.
2. Oversee audits and ensure financial controls align with best practices.
3. Authorise payroll, invoices, and expenses to maintain operational efficiency.
Staff Leadership and Development
1. Lead and support a professional and dedicated staff team, ensuring they have resources, reflective spaces, and training to succeed.
2. Oversee recruitment, HR issues, and performance management for all staff members.
3. Provide supervision and crisis support to staff as needed.
4. Foster a collaborative and open management style, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
Quality Assurance and Risk Management
1. Maintain robust health and safety standards and ensure regular reviews of organisational risks.
2. Promote a culture of accountability and ensure quality and safety are central to all service delivery.
3. Ensure training plans are in place to meet the evolving needs of the service and its young people.
Young Person-Centered Care
1. Lead the admissions process, ensuring young people's goals and rights are central to placement planning.
2. Support young people in their transitions to independent living, ensuring holistic care is provided.
3. Conduct exit interviews to gather feedback and improve service delivery.
Stakeholder and External Relations
1. Build and maintain strong relationships with funders, regulatory bodies, and community partners.
2. Represent Wellsprings at regional and national forums to further organisational objectives.
3. Negotiate with funders to enhance budgets and secure additional resources.
Board and Administrative Responsibilities
1. Prepare Board meeting agendas, reports, and strategic updates, ensuring accurate documentation of decisions.
2. Ensure the Board has a strong skill mix, vetting, and appropriate training.
3. Attend the AGM and contribute to organisational oversight and governance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Essential:
1. Level 8 qualification in Social Care, Social Work, or a related discipline.
2. Minimum of 5 years’ management experience in a social care or related environment.
3. Proven expertise in governance, audit preparation, and strategic planning.
4. Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and payroll oversight.
5. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
Desirable:
1. Management qualification or equivalent experience.
2. Familiarity with HIQA standards and governance in the voluntary sector.
3. Experience in change management and collaborative stakeholder engagement.
Qualifications
Applicants should hold a relevant qualification (minimum Level 8 on the NFQ) in Social Care, Social Work, or a related discipline. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role, with leadership and management responsibilities, is essential.
