The Role
This is a wholetime, permanent, and pensionable position.
A panel will be formed to fill permanent and temporary vacancies.
You will be required to work in any location within the South Dublin administrative area.
Duties
You will provide executive, supervisory, or advisory services to the local authority under the direction and supervision of its appropriate officer.
You will deputise for other officers of the local authority when required and perform duties related to another local authority's area as assigned.
Your duties will include:
* Carrying out duties allocated by the County Council related to Fleet and Mechanical Operations.
* Coordinating and ordering materials, goods, and plant as required.
* Implementing best practices, current legislation, and Council policies regarding fleet and mechanical services provision.
* Managing statutory inspections, including vehicle tax, insurance, driving licenses, and vehicle testing requirements.
* Ensuring Health & Safety legislation and best practice implementation for Mechanical Service operations.
* Operating a P.C., Laptop, Smartphone, and handheld technology as required.
* Maintaining concise records using Microsoft office packages and fleet management systems.
* Providing fleet and mechanical services, including written, computer, and photographic records.
* Liaising with the Area Engineer and Foreman on daily work tasks allocation.
* Undertaking training and participating in training courses for staff under your control.
* Cooperating with new technology implementation, including attending training courses and supporting transformation technologies.
* Implementing and complying with all Council policies and procedures.
* Keeping management informed on matters important to the Council and liaising with other sections on work and emergencies.
* Supervising work carried out by contractors.
