The role will include design, build, maintenance and operational support activities. The successful candidate will manage network architectures to support network availability, growth and service restoration on VM Ireland’s Core IP Network.Specific Duties & Tasks:Architect and design the future of the Virgin Media IP NetworkServe as Subject Matter Expert on two or more of the following technologies; MPLS, DTV/Multicast, Voice (SIP/RTP), QoS, Layer 3 Routing, BGP Peering, Carrier EthernetDesign authority for Access and Core IP networks. Maintain awareness of latest networking trends, and plan for roll out of same on the VMIE network as appropriateSpeak as a representative for the Data Center Technology team when meeting with stakeholdersPerform build, configuration and integration testing with internal and external stakeholders as required. Ensure service deliveries are performed according to delivery milestones and within budgetCarry out software/hardware upgrades & migrations on the core network within maintenance window, in adherence with Change Management proceduresAct as Tier 3 escalation point for all complex faults on the internal IT IP networks, and supported services.
