Virgin Media News is seeking an experienced assistant television producer for Ireland AM.
The producer will be responsible for assisting in the outputting live studio, booking guests, generating ideas for content, developing relationships with presenters, guests, agencies and political parties, identifying new guest talent and understanding the dynamics of panel discussions.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record in producing interesting, engaging and editorially-sound current affairs programming.
They will have a strong journalistic background as well as sound editorial judgment and a strong understanding of politics and current affairs content.
The Assistant Producer will have good working knowledge of digital news platforms and digital production.
This role will involve varied shifts outside of normal office hours.
Specific Tasks and Duties:
1. Assisting in the outputting live studio programmes
2. Booking contributors for panel discussions & one-on-one interviews
3. Working within a team of producers and researchers in the preparation and management of high quality journalistic programming
4. A commanding knowledge of both traditional and new television production
5. Understanding of the importance of strong visual and graphics content in TV programmes
6. Good working knowledge of online video services such as Skype and Zoom
7. Sourcing and posting digital news content from TV programmes to online platforms
The Person:
1. Extensive experience working in current affairs in television, radio or online media.
2. Thorough knowledge of the Irish political landscape will also be required together with a command of national and international social, cultural, business and economic affairs.
3. A strong contacts book
4. Good communication and interpersonal skills
5. Ability to work under pressure as part of a busy team and meet deadlines
