Offer Description
Applications are invited for a temporary part-time post of a Research Assistant within UCD School of Medicine.
The SFI Frontiers for the Future Programme is funded by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) to support the development of world-class research capability and human capital in areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) that demonstrably support and underpin enterprise competitiveness and societal development in Ireland. It provides funding for high-risk, high-reward research that facilitates highly innovative and novel approaches to research.
Our SFI Frontiers funded project is focused on applying the controlled/living polymerization approach on multivinyl monomers (MVMs) for the design and preparation of novel single-chain cyclized/knot polymers and demonstrate their potential in biomedical applications, in particular, for Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa (RDEB) wound healing. This project has designed multifunctional polymers as injectable hydrogel scaffolds and gene delivery vectors for healing RDEB wounds and is developing a gene carrier system with low toxicity and high transfection efficacy and testing its efficacy in laboratory models.
This post is to fulfil key deliverables of the project by supporting the work packages on in vitro and in vivo testing. The successful candidate will work as part of a well-established and dynamic research team at the UCD Charles Institute of Dermatology.
