Research and Development Scientist
We are seeking an experienced Research and Development Scientist to join our growing team at Methodius Ltd. in Oranmore, Co. Galway.
Our company provides a range of Gardening, Agricultural and Veterinary products for the Irish, UK and EU markets. We are expanding both our product range and export potential, and this new role will play a key part in achieving this goal.
You will be reporting to the Technical Director and will be responsible for advancing the research on commercialised products as well as working on developing the NPD pipeline.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for life sciences and chemistry. You will have the chance to work on a wide portfolio range from Veterinary / Animal Nutrition to Plant Protection, Biocides and Biopesticide products.
The role will encompass the research and development of new product lines from concept to field trials.
Key Responsibilities
* Working with defined concepts, researching the chemistry and developing commercially viable solutions.
* Supporting the acceleration and growth of new product innovations, leveraging new technologies and landing consumer relevant products with bottom line impact.
* Analysing proposed raw materials, in-process and finished products, as well as stability samples according to the relevant specifications while ensuring documentation and reporting is conducted in accordance with good laboratory practices.
* Completing all testing in a timely manner that supports established NPD targets.
* Carrying out all necessary efficacy field trials, comparing results against standard products.
* Recording results in a timely and accurate fashion.
Competencies and Experience
* A relevant Science Degree (Life Science, Agricultural Science, Chemistry etc).
* Strong analytical acumen, with the ability to understand formulation development.
* Experience of HPLC & GC testing methods.
* Ability to carry out and analyse field trials, in line with established trialling principles, with an understanding of both the agronomy and chemistry of the test products.
* Manage own workload effectively ensuring activities are aligned with business timings.
* A creative mindset – and the ability to approach a problem creatively.
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Strong IT skills.
* A meticulous approach to work.
* The ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
