OBJECTIVE: To assist the Retail & Forecourt manager and area manager in the delivery of store targets (both in terms of sales & profitability) through the effective management of store operations and personnel.
SUPERVISORY
1. Supervise the activities of the retail sales team daily and ensure necessary tasks are completed to an appropriate level.
2. Ensure high-quality and consistent customer service is provided at all times.
3. Delegate and communicate effectively with the retail sales team.
4. Supervise the effective induction and training of all employees.
5. Communicate sales performance to the team.
6. Assist the store manager in the recruitment of high caliber retail sales assistants.
7. Assist the store manager in the effective management of retail sales team performance.
OPERATIONS
1. Ensure store is merchandised in a customer-friendly and competitive manner ensuring compliance with company procedures and guidelines.
2. Maintain housekeeping in the store at an optimum level.
3. Co-ordinate in-store sales and promotions.
4. Communicate with the retail sales team regarding in-store sales and promotions.
5. Ensure the appropriate cash register and cash handling policy is adhered to.
6. Ensure shelf-edged labels are updated every week.
7. React to local market trends and competition in an appropriate manner.
8. Ensure customers receive high-quality and consistent service at all times.
9. Deal with and rectify customer complaints effectively and pleasantly.
10. Proactively take necessary action in store improvements following customer complaints.
STOCK MANAGEMENT
1. Assist the manager in preparations for stock take and supervise where appropriate.
2. Assist the manager in minimising stock loss through wastage, damages, and pilferage.
3. Ensure food management and waste systems are adhered to by the retail sales team.
4. Check stock to ensure adequate stock is available for customer needs.
5. Ensure stock is rotated appropriately to ensure in-date stock is available and to minimise waste through out-of-date stock.
LEGISLATION & SECURITY
1. Ensure secure opening and closing procedures with the store manager.
2. Assist the manager in matters relating to managing staff ensuring compliance with Labour Law, HACCP, Health & Safety, and Consumer Legislation.
3. Identify and reduce potential hazards in the store.
4. Work with the Store Manager to ensure Health & Safety checks are conducted and actioned accordingly.
OFFICE
1. Ensure that cash is counted correctly daily and lodgments are prepared for Securicor to pick up.
2. Ensure accurate floats are prepared daily.
3. Ensure Money is lodged in the ATM.
4. Complete Reports as requested by the Head Office accountant properly in the shop daily and weekly.
5. Submit Reports to the Head office either on a daily or weekly basis.
6. Book Delivery Dockets daily onto the CBE system.
7. Complete Stock takes of key lines daily or weekly as requested by Head Office Accountant.
8. Organize the monthly stock count.
9. Complete Rota in conjunction with the Retail Manager and ensure that wage report sent to Galway is correct every week.
10. Ensure all transfer dockets that impact the shop are correct.
11. Make Newspaper and Magazine returns.
12. Follow up on short deliveries/credit notes.
13. Keep all filing up-to-date.
14. Help on the Shop Floor.
15. Order Coin for the Shop.
16. Perform ad hoc duties at the request of the Head Office or the Retail Manager/Area Manager.
17. Be flexible to assist at tills during peak and busy times.

4. Work with the General Manager to drive turnover down at both the salaried manager and crew level.
