Festival and Events Coordinator Job Description
Athlone Chamber of Commerce is seeking a highly motivated Festival and Events Coordinator to promote and coordinate festivals and events across the region.
The successful applicant will report to the CEO and work with external stakeholders to support the delivery of their festivals and events as a mechanism to boost tourism in Athlone and its environs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work with external stakeholders to develop and promote festivals and events.
* Develop partnerships with organisations hosting larger festivals and events, supporting volunteers and addressing obstacles.
* Create a year-round calendar of festivals and events in the Athlone region, circulating it through local tourism portals and websites.
* Prioritise workload and provide advice on logistics, licensing, budgets, insurance, health and safety, and event execution.
* Minimise risks associated with festival and event management by advising local organisations on better planning and management.
* Establish relationships with Local Government, Civil Defence, Order of Malta, HSE, An Garda Síochána, and other stakeholders to facilitate introductions to key support organisations.
* Develop partnerships with accommodation providers and vendors to aid planning and capacity.
* Identify marketing and funding opportunities for festivals and events, helping to develop cost-effective marketing strategies.
* Champion sustainability initiatives in festivals and events.
* Lead community engagement initiatives.
* Be the go-to source of information for festival and events committees.
* Develop training workshops/sessions to educate organisations about festival and event risks, opportunities, and rewards.
The Person:
We are seeking a self-motivated, solutions-focused, results-oriented individual with a passion for culture, tourism, and event management. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and a deep understanding of the local area. The successful candidate will be skilled in hosting workshops with strong presentation skills.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Tourism, Business or related discipline.
* Strong market knowledge and communication skills.
* Professional approach with excellent communication skills.
* Results-driven and able to work independently and in a team.
* Proficiency in MS Office.
* Proficiency in social media applications.
* Fluency in English (oral and written).
* Full, clean driver's license.
Salary: €28,000 - €30,000 per year
