Applications are invited for a temporary 5-year post of a Quality Assurance Officer within UCD National Virus Reference Laboratory.
The National Virus Reference Laboratory (NVRL) plays an important role in the Irish Health Services as the principal diagnostic and reference service for clinicians investigating virus infections. The laboratory offers approximately 170 tests for the diagnosis of at least 45 different pathogens and the current workload involves performing in excess of 930,000 tests per annum. The laboratory provides a 24/7 clinical and technical on-call service to deal with urgent testing requirements and to support the National Transplant Programme.
The NVRL is accredited by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as a National Laboratory for Poliovirus, Influenza, Measles, and Rubella. The NVRL is also accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the Irish National Accreditation Board (INAB) to undertake testing as detailed in the Schedule bearing the Registration Number 326MT, in compliance with the International Standard ISO/IEC rd Edition "Medical laboratories - Requirements for quality and competence".
The Quality Assurance Officer (QAO) will have responsibility for the establishment, implementation, maintenance, and review of the NVRL Quality System, in line with best practice and the requirements of ISO15189, National and EU legislative requirements.
Salary Scale: €69,981 - €85,951 Per Annum
Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
