Cork Hydrologist Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Hydrologist to join our team in Cork. This is a highly respected, award-winning international multi-disciplinary consultancy that puts Sustainability at the heart of their business strategy with offices in Galway, Dublin, Dundalk and Cork.
This role will involve working on large scale projects and comes with excellent career progression opportunities. The successful Hydrologist will also be involved in the design and delivery of infrastructure projects for Irish Water and other clients.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Work in a civil team and liaise with DBO Contractors, Resident Engineering Staff and Client personnel.
* Have good experience and understanding of the main hydro morphological issues impacting Ireland's water resources, primarily the presence of barriers, as well as dredging and canalisation.
* Have a good knowledge of how to ameliorate such issues, and in particular, of the design, implementation and use of nature-based solutions and natural flood management measures to address these issues.
* Project scheduling and resource planning aligned to meet customer requirements.
* Maintaining accurate records of all process steps.
Requirements
* Honours Degree in Civil Engineering/Ecology or equivalent.
* The successful Hydrologist should have 6+ years post graduate Civil Engineering experience within an engineering consultancy.
* As Hydrologist you will have experience in Urban Drainage Modelling or Sewer / Storm network modelling / Design or Flood modelling.
* The successful Hydrologist will have experience of proposal and tender writing and winning and delivering won work.
* Attention to detail and ability to comply with Quality Assurance Management Systems is essential.
* You will be a chartered Scientist, Environmentalist or Ecologist or on to the road to chartership.
* Knowledge and experience of some or all of the following will be an added advantage: geomorphological assessment at catchment and reach scale; river restoration, particularly related to barrier mitigation and removal; fish passage/passes. Experience of peatland restoration would also be useful.
