ABOUT THE POSITION
Black Shamrock is looking for a talented and energetic VFX Artist to be part of our creative team working on ambitious AAA PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and PC games. This is a full-time position based in our Dublin office which involves working in an international environment.
The ideal candidate will have a great aesthetic eye, strong technical understanding of particle systems, such as Niagara in UE5, and be able to take creative direction from the Art Director and Creative Director.
Responsibilities
Creating AAA quality VFX that respects the project’s technical and artistic constraints.
Creating and optimizing VFX assets and engine implementation.
Implement and incorporate feedback from Art Director and other Leads into the project.
Develop an understanding of best practices, production pipelines and workflows.
Working with TAs to create or enhance shaders capable of pushing your work to the next level.
Work with the Design team to enhance the gameplay experience.
Maintain balance between quality and performance.
Support the Lead Artist and Art Director in any ad hoc tasks and duties.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in the gaming industry, and as a VFX artist on a AAA project.
Solid understanding of CG VFX, both in real-time engines and software rendering.
Exceptional aesthetic eye.
Ability to work with different disciplines to deliver VFX which follows the art direction whilst also acknowledging and enhancing the game design.
Experience creating particle effects in a real time engine such as Niagara.
Working knowledge of relevant software. (e.g. Maya, After Effects, UE5, etc.)
Working knowledge of Houdini & Embergen are preferred.
Superb problem-solving skills, both creative and technical.
Experience of different game engines and production pipelines is desirable.
Great interpersonal and communication skills.
A strong portfolio/showreel.
