TEMPORARY PART TIME SUPERANNUATION/PENSIONS OFFICER (GRADE V)
Tenure of Employment
The post is a temporary part-time post working 40 hours per fortnight. Compulsory retirement age is 70.
Qualifications and Experience
The appointee must have:
1. Accounting Technician or equivalent qualification
2. Administration Experience working in Pensions or Payroll Department of a medium to large sized Organisation
3. Interpersonal skills that enable you to deal with management, staff, pensioners & families and to work with people at all levels
4. Strong numerical and analytical skills
5. Excellent attention to detail skills with an emphasis on accuracy and quality output in line with required deadlines
6. Demonstrates energy, efficiency and a willingness to learn
7. Willingness to assume significant responsibility, ownership and accountability
8. Ability to prioritise and handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
9. IT Literate with excellent working knowledge of MS Office to include at least intermediate level skills in Excel, Word and Outlook
10. Written and spoken communication skills that allow you to inform and advise others clearly
11. Full Clean Drivers Licence
Desirable:
Experience working in the Public Sector
Reports to: Manager of Pension Shared Services
Location: To be confirmed pending location of successful candidate
Salary Scale: Admin Grade V €49,702-€59,457 at 01/06/2024
Health
The successful candidate must be free from any condition, which would render him/her unsuitable to hold the appointment, and must be in a state of health as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. To satisfy this qualification, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a medical examination by the Occupational Health Nurse/Physician.
Working Hours
The normal working week will be 20 hours per week. Contracted hours of work are liable to change between the hours of 8am – 8pm over seven days to meet the requirements of the services. The Brothers of Charity Services model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.
Duties
The general duties of the appointment are as described in the attached Job Description.
A shortlist of candidates to attend before the selection Board will be prepared by the Selection Board from an examination of statements of qualifications furnished by the candidates.
Annual leave is 28 days per year.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: SUPERANNUATION OFFICER
KEY PRIORITIES OF THE SUPERANNUATION OFFICER POSITION
1. Prepare Statements of Service for leavers and advise them of their options.
2. Prepare estimates of retirement benefits for staff as requested and advise if any service has to be purchased.
3. Prepare Service Verification details for staff who wish to purchase service for periods when they worked within the Public Sector and did not pay pension contributions.
4. Single Public Service Pension Scheme (SPSPS): Preparation of statements on an annual basis.
5. Communicate with pensioners/spouses & children as required.
6. Send Declaration annually to sign and return.
7. Apply for Supplementary Pension Allowance if requested.
8. Liaise with all Regions on pension benefit approvals, queries re service and any other matters as requested/required.
9. Prepare Reports as requested by Management in all Regions.
10. Keep up to date with changes and developments as advised by the Department of Health, Department of Finance and the Department of Public Expenditure & Reform.
11. Maintain confidentiality of information and records.
12. Co-operate and develop effective working relationships with all involved in delivering Pension Shared Services within the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland.
13. Participate in training internally and/or externally as requested.
14. Any other duties assigned by Management deemed necessary to support the Business.
15. Establish and maintain relationships with the individuals who use our services that are based on respect and equality and that promote their independence.
