Reporting Relationship
Reports directly to: Finance Manager Homecare
Objective of Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will support the Finance Manager in managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with company policies. The post holder will have responsibilities for Invoicing, Debtors, Creditors and the monthly management accounts for various group companies.
Roles & Responsibilities
Client invoicing
* Processing and issuing Invoices per set schedule.
* Processing Direct Debit Payments.
* Reconciling remittances and allocating payments on the system.
* Following up on outstanding balances in timely manner.
Reporting
* Weekly/Monthly KPI Report to central finance team.
* Preparation of Monthly Management Accounts (Balance Sheet Reconciliation, P&L Analysis).
* Generating and posting of all accruals/prepayments for management accounts
* Reporting budget v planned v worked hours - variances explained in summary report for central finance team.
* Monthly analysis of overheads, reporting variances to senior management and commentary for board packs.
* Involvement in annual budgets, forecasting
Accounts Payable
* Posting Supplier Invoices to the system.
* Running monthly Supplier Payments once Invoices are approved.
* Reconciling supplier statements.
Requirements:
* A minimum of 2 years' experience in an accounts/finance assistant role.
* Relevant accounting or finance qualification (e.g. IATI, part-qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA, or similar) is an advantage, QBE is also acceptable.
* Strong knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger functions.
* Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar) and Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced level).
* Excellent numerical and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
* Strong organisational and time-management abilities with the capacity to meet deadlines.
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
* Strong communication skills - written and verbal.
* Experience in preparing monthly management accounts is a distinct advantage.
* Familiarity with healthcare or service-based industry finance functions is desirable but not essential.
