General Responsibilities of an Assistant Manager (Mace Shop & Texaco Service Station): The Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager in the overall daily operations of the combined Mace shop (convenience store) and Texaco service station. This includes ensuring efficient and effective site operation, maximizing sales, providing excellent customer service, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and leading and developing the team. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Manager may be fully responsible for the site. Key Areas of Responsibility: Customer Service: Proactively deliver excellent customer service at all times. Ensure customer satisfaction is the top priority. Handle customer queries and complaints professionally and efficiently, escalating when necessary. Ensure staff are providing friendly, efficient service. Store Operations & Standards: Assist the Store Manager in the day-to-day running of the entire site (shop and forecourt). Ensure the store and forecourt reflect company standards for merchandising, presentation, and customer care. Maintain the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the store, food preparation areas (if applicable), and forecourt. Ensure all operational checklists are followed daily across the shop and forecourt. Oversee the efficient operation of the till systems and handle cash and card transactions accurately. Team Management: Assist in managing and organizing a team of staff. Act as a role model, leading by example and fostering a positive team environment. Develop and promote good communication between employees and management. Support the Store Manager in the training and development of staff. Stock Management: Assist with ordering stock for the shop, ensuring adequate levels and minimizing waste. Accept and process deliveries of goods. Merchandise the shop area effectively to maximize sales. Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the fuel pumps.
