About the Role
The Assistant Category Manager will collaborate closely with the Category Manager to develop and implement a strategic rolling business plan, optimising sales and achieving key financial targets. This role involves building and maintaining strong relationships with vendors while delivering value to the client's consumer division.
Main Responsibilities
* Develop and manage a rolling monthly/quarterly promotional plan to align with KPIs.
* Qualify product nominations and promotional details for presentations to the Client Head Office team.
* Conduct regular stock and sales analysis with the Client team for effective stock management.
* Collaborate with the Category Manager and Consumer Vendor Manager to evaluate new vendor partnerships and product opportunities.
* Oversee the end-to-end process of product selection, ensuring timely execution and sign-off by the client.
* Work with the Category team to establish a robust exit strategy following promotional end dates.
* Facilitate meetings with key vendors to communicate promotional opportunities and timelines effectively.
* Manage point-of-sale and merchandising briefs for complete and accurate promotional delivery.
* Play a crucial role in designing, funding, and approving point-of-sale materials for in-store execution.
Requirements
* A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in category management, ideally within the FMCG sector.
* Strong commercial acumen with a proven ability to drive results.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel; knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is beneficial.
* A relevant business degree is advantageous.
* Excellent relationship-building and influencing skills, with a strong emphasis on communication and integrity.
* Exceptional organisational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple tasks without losing focus.
