Job Title: Engineering Manager
Location: Sligo
Our client, a leading manufacturing company, is hiring a full-time Engineering Manager. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position is to lead a newly created Engineering Department incorporating new product and process development, process optimization/improvement, and environmental functions.
The jobholder has the responsibility for investments in manufacturing machinery, tooling, and other production equipment according to the principle of "right-sizing" to achieve optimal flexibility for minimal investment. This approach aims to reduce the risk of write-off losses due to changes in demand patterns and/or technology while capitalizing on advantages from new technologies.
Responsibilities:
1. Act as Strategic Manager of multiple technologies, including all local site services (air, water, electricity).
2. Develop and implement necessary systems, procedures, and protocols ensuring adherence to Quality Management System and Design Control requirements.
3. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations regarding effective Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality systems.
4. Develop and implement a complete asset management system, including maintenance functions.
5. Identify and select best value technologies.
6. Prepare annual operational and capital expenditure budgets.
7. Manage agreed budgets, hiring, day-to-day management, and project resourcing.
8. Deliver profitable, on-time product/project launches.
9. Prioritize and drive execution of multiple complex department projects.
10. Sponsor and support value improvement in the operation.
11. Ensure efficient and timely transfer of process knowledge from project personnel to manufacturing engineers.
12. Coordinate the training of production team members on new processes and equipment.
13. Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement that aligns with our customer’s quality policy.
14. Initiate cross-functional partnerships to identify and resolve production/engineering issues.
15. Oversee managerial, leadership, and employee development, ensuring adequate training to satisfy operational and health and safety requirements.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 5+ years of experience within a manufacturing environment at a senior level.
An organized, highly motivated, enthusiastic, and energetic individual with a goal-focused attitude, capable of working effectively with other functional areas.
Expertise in project management and resource management in a complex, demanding environment, gained from experience in a high-volume manufacturing setting. Technically astute, numerate, and possessing excellent analytical ability.
A highly confident team player with a quality-focused approach and an innovative problem-solving attitude demonstrating a "Right first time" approach and attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal skills for dealing with people and situations at all levels. Strong people management skills, written and verbal communication skills, along with effective presentation skills.
Knowledge of the latest plastic injection mould tool, metal stamping, and automation technology is essential.
A proven knowledge of technology deployment, with a good understanding and application of quality PSW/PPAP/APQP, and lean principles.
Ability to measure effectiveness and possesses strong business and financial acumen.
