A mixed veterinary practice in Wexford is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join their dedicated team. This full-time, permanent position offers an excellent opportunity to work within a modern, purpose-built facility committed to providing top-quality veterinary care.
The role encompasses a blend of Small Animal (SA) and Large Animal (LA) responsibilities, with a focus on routine farm visits, TB testing, and performing standard surgical procedures. The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of eight veterinarians, supported by a skilled nursing and administrative staff, in a practice that values teamwork and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conducting routine on-farm calls for both Small and Large Animal patients.
2. Performing TB testing and routine surgeries for Large Animals.
3. Delivering comprehensive veterinary care across a diverse range of species.
4. Collaborating closely with a supportive team within a modern, well-equipped environment.
5. Participating in a shared on-call rota with a neighboring practice.
6. Managing a varied caseload, with an approximate split of 60% Small Animal and 40% Large Animal work.
Working Hours:
1. Full-time, averaging 40 hours per week.
2. Participation in a 1 in 4 weekend rotation.
3. Out-of-hours duties are shared with another local practice.

Applicant Requirements:
1. VCI registration.
2. Qualified and experienced Veterinary Surgeon with a strong foundation in Large Animal (LA) practice.
3. Must be registered with the Veterinary Council of Ireland and certified to perform TB testing.
4. Confident and proficient in conducting routine farm visits, TB testing, and performing standard surgical procedures.
5. Experience in Small Animal medicine and surgery is desirable.
6. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced mixed practice, managing a diverse range of cases.
7. A proactive and collaborative approach, with a commitment to delivering high-quality care.
8. Willingness to participate in a shared on-call and weekend rota (1 in 4).
9. A compassionate and empathetic approach towards animals and their owners.
