Job Title: Inspector/Scientific Officer III (Level 5) - General
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled professional to join our team as an Inspector/Scientific Officer III (Level 5) General. This role is responsible for conducting technical assessments and inspections, gathering and analyzing environmental data, and providing expert advice on environmental matters.
Key Responsibilities:
* Process licence applications, including EIA and AA; assess end-of-waste applications and by-product notifications; prepare national end of waste and by-product decisions.
* Enforce licence conditions and/or regulations in sectors such as Industry, Waste, Waste Water, Drinking Water and Radiological Protection.
* Monitor, inspect and audit EPA licensed and unlicensed facilities; write reports on findings.
* Assess scientific and technical reports, including assessment and interpretation of environmental data, EIAR and Natura Impact Statements.
* Respond to and investigate environmental incidents and complaints.
Duties of the Scientific Officer:
* Gather, assess and report on environmental quality, including research.
* Analyze and present environmental data in formats suitable for environmental assessment and management purposes.
* Liaise with and co-ordinate relevant activities with other organisations at local, national and international levels.
* Assist in the development of integrated environmental information systems.
Common Duties for both Inspector and Scientific Officer:
* Acquire a clear understanding of relevant statutory provisions.
* Deal with the general public and various external stakeholders.
* Contribute to the development and delivery of annual Office Work Programmes.
* Work effectively and efficiently as part of a team in a high-paced environment.
Essential Requirements:
* A third level qualification in Science or Engineering (NFQ Level 8 or higher).
* Strong ICT skills with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
* Ability to work and deliver as part of a team to meet objectives.
* Driving Licence - Applicants should hold a full valid Irish/EU licence for Class B vehicles.
Desirable Requirements:
* Work experience, preferably in a regulatory or environment role.
Estimated Salary: €55,000 - €65,000 per annum.
