An internationally recognised leader in Fire Protection Systems is seeking a Design Manager to enhance design activities and lead a team of Design Engineers and CAD Technicians.
This role involves coaching, mentoring, training, and supporting the team to maximise their potential while implementing training programs aligned with operational strategies, policies, and procedures.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead and manage Design Engineers & CAD Technicians across multiple design projects.
Oversee problem-solving and resolution of coordination and design roadblocks.
Manage drawing standards, specifications, and compliance with industry regulations.
Coordinate LPCB standards, inspection, and accreditation processes.
Develop and update Design SOPs, manuals, and procedures in compliance with legislative and client requirements.
Plan and schedule upcoming works, providing updates to relevant departments.
Ensure all designs are tracked, monitored, and updated within project management systems.
Develop and implement standard design tools to improve project efficiency.
Support Design Engineers to meet internal and external audit requirements.
Coach, mentor, and train employees in all aspects of design and related functions.
Manage recruitment, on boarding, performance management, retention, employee engagement, and learning and development of team members.
Develop a workforce plan to ensure compliance with recruitment processes and meet staffing needs.
Analyse training needs and implement training programs for staff development.
Ensure technical competence within the team and maintain efficient work practices.
Promote a positive HSEQ culture and a safe work environment.
Deliver clear and timely internal and external communications to stakeholders.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation and records.
Essential Criteria:
Minimum 5 years of Fire Sprinkler Design experience.
Experience using Revit and familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modelling) workflows .
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to prioritise work and manage demanding workloads.
Flexible, adaptable, and proactive approach to work.
Proven ability to build and sustain professional working relationships.
Strong attention to detail, time management, and reliability.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field .
Experience leading and managing design teams.
Proficiency in design software such as Revit, SolidWorks, or similar tools .
Strong project management skills, with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of industry regulations and standards.
