The Role Senior Inspector Grade I - Market Surveillance of Chemicals
Job Summary
This role is responsible for the management of the Market Surveillance of Chemicals team and associated processes to ensure effective delivery of the Authority's mandate, strategic priorities, and Programmes of Work.
Key Accountabilities
* Provides leadership and strategic management of the Market Surveillance of Chemicals mandate by identifying key issues and spearheading initiatives while building team capacity and capability.
* Researches and prepares information to facilitate framing the organisation's strategic priorities and annual Programmes of Work.
* Manages and develops a high-performing team of inspectors ensuring effective delivery of the annual Programmes of Work consisting of policy development, inspection, and enforcement activities.
* Ensures continuous improvement of work processes by evaluating enforcement and policy activity reviewing targets and results and assessing the added value of various activities undertaken.
* Participates in relevant EU policy and enforcement fora committees and working groups.
* Participates in the Authority's Management Group contributing to the implementation of strategic organisational financial and operational goals and objectives.
* Ensures team members are complying with relevant internal processes and procedures.
* AActs as the primary interface between relevant external stakeholders and the Authority in relation to Market Surveillance of Chemicals.
* Maintains the integrity of data on the relevant IT platform(s) ensuring its quality and timely completion by self and direct reports.
* Manages the safety health and welfare of staff and oversees compliance with responsibilities as set out in the Authority's Safety Statement.
* Implements change initiatives promoting a culture which encourages innovation and supporting team members through the change process.
Essential Requirements
* Primary degree (NFQ level 8 or equivalent) in Engineering Science or other appropriate relevant discipline.
* Five years relevant work experience.
* Possession of a full driving licence (Category B).
* Demonstrate possession of required competencies for the role as set out in Appendix 1
Desirable Requirements
* Excellent planning and organisational skills and ability to lead and manage diverse teams.
* A record of achievement in their career demonstrating significant management skills including ability to provide effective leadership and direction.
* A recognised qualification in the relevant area and/or other qualification in Occupational Safety and Health.
