Clinical Nurse Specialist/Clinical Nurse Manager II - Pain Management
Full-time hours, permanent post.
The pain team at Mercy University Hospital is a dynamic interdisciplinary team that manages acute and chronic pain within the hospital and throughout the region. The team provides services to inpatients and outpatients for both acute and chronic pain management.
The CNS/CNM2 will be an integral part of the pain team, working with the pain consultant, nursing staff, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
* Provide excellent skills in therapeutic communication, patient liaison, and follow-up care.
* Advise on inpatient acute pain management.
* Support and assist with specialist interventions to manage pain and achieve the best possible outcomes.
* Act as a resource and participate in review of epidural, paravertebral, and local anaesthetic infusions.
* Undertake formal and informal training of ward-based staff.
* Offer medication advice and support to optimize the plan of care and patient outcomes.
* Develop policies and guidelines for pain management.
Eligibility Criteria:
* Be a registered nurse on the active Register of Nurses and Midwives held by An Bord Altranais agus Cnaimhseachais na hEireann (NMBI) or be eligible to be so registered.
* Have a minimum of 1 year's post-registration full-time experience or an aggregate of 1 year's full-time experience in the division of the register in which the application is being made.
* Have a minimum of 1 year's experience or an aggregate of 1 year's full-time experience in the specialist area.
* Hold a Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major academic Level 9 or higher award relevant to the specialist area.
* Demonstrate continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the specialist area.
